Ala. Senate OKs bill to expand NP prescribing powers

A bill that would permit certified registered nurse practitioners and nurse midwives to prescribe more types of drugs has passed the Alabama Senate with bipartisan backing. The measure would improve access to care, said Sen. Greg Reed, a Republican and the sponsor of the bill. The legislation will be considered in the House, which has approved a similar proposal.
