Google to buy fiber-optic network in Utah

Google has agreed to purchase iProvo, the municipally owned fiber-optic network in Provo, Utah, and will make the network part of its Google Fiber project. The company plans to improve iProvo by completing construction and offering gigabit technology to bring faster Internet service to homes on the network for a $30 activation fee and no monthly charges, John Ribeiro writes.
