GOP lawmakers renew attack on tax incentives for wind power

Republican lawmakers renewed their criticism of federal incentives for wind energy during a joint hearing of two House subcommittees. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said offshore turbines would be a hazard to passing aircraft and maritime vessels. Jim Lanard, president of the Offshore Wind Development Coalition, downplayed those fears, noting that the biggest air carrier and ferry company in Massachusetts' Nantucket Sound support the proposed Cape Wind project.
