Major chemical producers increasingly turn positive toward bioplastics

The participation of BASF, Bayer, Evonik and DuPont at the nova-Institute's biotechnology conference in Germany signals a shift on bioplastics, according to this analysis. "Green chemicals and plastics are increasingly being built into portfolios," said Rina Singh of the Biotechnology Industry Organization. "The bioeconomy is more than a project," said Christine Lang of the German Bioeconomy Council. "It is more than a strategy for substituting raw materials. It requires perseverance, communication and continuous research. But it's a strategic opportunity for future sustainable economic growth."
