The rise of Sephora

Sephora has captured 20% of the U.S. cosmetic and fragrance market since launching its first store in New York in 1998. The retailer, which now operates 706 U.S. stores including 386 inside J.C. Penney stores, has built a strong and grabbed market share from traditional department store cosmetic counters.
