Senate deals Obama a crushing defeat on gun control

The Senate rejected planned gun-control reforms Wednesday by a 54-46 vote, with four Democrats joining Republicans on a procedural vote to avert the measure's passage. The vote was a resounding defeat for President Barack Obama, who insisted the Senate's "shameful day" would not be the last word on the post-Newtown gun-control push. "I see this as just Round One," Obama said. "Sooner or later, we are going to get this right. The memories of these children demand it."
