Why physicians should embrace NPs as primary care providers

Nurse practitioners should be able to practice what they were trained and certified to do, Dr. Anna Reisman writes. NPs can help address a primary care shortage that will have serious consequences when the Affordable Care Act takes full effect. Reisman urged doctors and NPs to be open to the perspectives that each offers. "It's time to unlock the gates to the primary care club. There will be plenty of patients for everyone," she writes.
