HIT venture funding reached record high in first quarter

Mercom Capital Group reports that venture capital funding for the health IT sector reached a record $184 million from 27 deals during the first quarter, with $103 million going to health information management firms. The sector also saw a strong M&A activity, with HIM companies accounting for 15 of the 34 transactions recorded during the period.
