United, Continental put merging MRO lower on priority list

United Airlines and Continental Airlines are waiting to merge maintenance, repair and operations. "History tells us that one reason mergers fail is because carriers didn't realize that everything doesn't have to happen at once," said Jim Keenan, United's senior vice president for technical operations." The merged carrier is focusing first on combining operations that directly affect passengers.
