Iowa lawmaker says gay relationships threaten health of his family

Republican Iowa state Sen. Dennis Guth said on the Senate floor this week that gay relationships cause "health risks that my family incurs because of the increase of sexually transmitted infections that this lifestyle invites." The comments were later challenged by Guth's Democratic colleague, openly gay Sen. Matt McCoy, who said that being gay was not a choice, adding "you certainly can choose to be ignorant. What I heard today was ignorant."
