Opinion: Cutting the cord doesn't mean giving up TV

Writer Andrew Dodson estimates he will save $105 a month by cutting the cord to his DIRECTV service and relying on free over-the-air HD channels and lower-cost streaming services. The 26-year-old believes others in his generation are doing the same. "Just like broadcasters are adapting to consumer trends, cable and satellite companies will need to come up with a better business model," he writes. "... Why pay all that money when local broadcasters are providing enjoyable, informative and great looking content free of charge?"
