SEC's Walter: Small firms may fall short on compliance

Small advisory firms may not be able to adequately supervise their compliance efforts, Securities and Exchange Commission member Elisse Walter warns. "In small shops, chief compliance officers can wear many different hats," Walter said in a speech last week. "Often, this means they can have too many priorities on their plates to devote adequate time to compliance efforts."
