Why teacher, principal preparation is needed with common core

Effective teacher and principal preparation will be a key component of successful implementation of the new Common Core State Standards, said Gene Wilhoit, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers. Wilhoit told attendees at a recent meeting that states must empower educators to attain necessary skills and knowledge to implement the common core, but to be careful not to impose pedagogical standards.
