SEC will consider key definitions for swaps next week

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced that it will meet Wednesday to consider whether to propose joint rules with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on key definitions that will apply to the swaps market. The proposed rules will define "swap," "security-based swap" and "security-based swap agreement." The proposed rules also will cover regulation of mixed swaps as well as books and records requirements for security-based swap agreements.
