DIRECTV sells majority of Seattle sports net in rights deal

DIRECTV has retained the rights to carry Seattle Mariners baseball games through 2030 as part of a deal in which the satellite provider sold a majority stake in the Root Sports Northwest network to the team. DIRECTV, which has interests in three regional sports networks, will operate the service as part of a deal that Forbes magazine valued at around $2 billion.
