GAO: Defense budget cuts could end several renewable-energy deals

President Barack Obama's 2014 budget proposal could lead to the closures of several military facilities and the termination of hundreds of contracts with renewable-energy companies that serve those facilities, according to a Government Accountability Office report. The Defense Department has 292 projects with "privatized utilities" and 60 renewable-energy projects that may be canceled under a future version of the base realignment and closure process, the GAO said.
