Earth Day, officially today, has been marked in recent days by students across the country taking part in school-sponsored activities focused on caring for the planet. At Garrison Elementary School in Dover, N.H., students helped clean the campus and worked on the construction of a fitness trail. Students of New Jersey's Greenwich Township elementary schools planted flowers and focused their studies on endangered species, including the blue whale, while elementary-school students in Alexandria, La., studied animals as part of their Earth Day observances with a trip to the city's zoo.
