Green roof in Northern Kentucky to bloom soon

The green roof atop the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Covington, Ky., may receive its first plants next month. The 18,000-square-foot green roof over the emergency department was funded by an anonymous donation of more than $420,000. The roof, which now contains a 1-inch drainage mat and three inches of soil, will be covered in low-maintenance flowering sedum plants.
