Statins don't protect against melanoma, analysis finds

Cholesterol-lowering statins do not prevent melanoma in white women, according to an analysis of Women's Health Initiative study results. Researchers identified 89 melanoma cases among 8,800 women who took statins and 1,111 cases out of 111,000 nonusers over 12 years.
