Analysts: Security to eat a bigger chunk of utilities' investments

Utilities will spend $7.25 billion over the next seven years to protect their infrastructure from cyberintruders, according to a Zpryme report, which predicts Asia-Pacific will account for the lion's share of the investment. Zpryme's forecast matches the estimates of other analysts who say stricter regulations and shareholder concerns will force utilities to earmark larger investments to securing offsite infrastructure and protecting industrial control systems and SCADA networks.
