China's appetite for peanut oil has U.S. exports sizzling

China's appetite for peanut oil, which it consumes at a rate of about 3 million short tons per year, has outstripped its domestic supply, prompting the world's largest peanut producer to look west. The Chinese are expected to import 300,000 short tons of peanuts in 2013, accounting for roughly half of U.S. peanut exports.
