A dare called the Cinnamon Challenge that involves swallowing a tablespoon of dry cinnamon without water and subsequently coughing and spewing it out may leave long-term lesions, scars and inflammation in the airway and even cause lung damage, according to a report in the journal Pediatrics. In 2012, at least 30 people who took the challenge needed medical attention, including ventilator support for some teens who had collapsed lungs.
