Critics eye companies' involvement in education policy

Some education observers are questioning whether education companies are seeking -- and being granted -- inappropriate influence over policy decisions. Among the companies investing in federal and local lobbying efforts are K12 Inc., an online-education provider, and Pearson Education. Some associated with the companies, however, say the lobbying is directed at helping them navigate existing laws -- not buying influence over policy.
