Energy Department might set efficiency standards for pumps

The Department of Energy might establish minimum energy-efficiency standards for clean-water commercial and industrial pumps. "Building owners, particularly large building owners -- hotel chains or grocery stores, for example -- are getting very, very attentive to their utility bills, both for branding reasons and for cost savings," said Jes Munk Hansen, CEO of Grundfos, a pump solution provider. The DoE is taking input on the subject until May 2.
