Exec: Cellulosic ethanol project will suffer if RFS is rolled back

Altering the Renewable Fuel Standard would have an adverse impact on the cellulosic-ethanol plant under development by Poet and DSM Advanced Biofuels in Emmetsburg, Iowa, said DSM President Hugh Welsh. "The reason we invested that $150 million in Emmetsburg, Iowa, was because of the RFS," Welsh said. Dismantling the RFS "would be the end of investment in cellulosic ethanol in the United States because the market won't be there," he said.
