Largent: Feds have key role in allocating spectrum

The federal government must play a firm role in overseeing how wireless spectrum is packaged and processed, CTIA-The Wireless Association® CEO Steve Largent argued in a letter to The Wall Street Journal. Writing in response to an op-ed piece, Largent offered a list of reasons for why the upcoming broadcast incentive auction is the most efficient and practical way to meet the nation's wireless bandwidth needs. Also on the spectrum front, House Republican leaders threatened to cut off some funding if the Federal Communications Commission confirms a Justice Department plan for overseeing the auctions.
