MIT project turns to student talent for medical-device development

Tapping into the advantage offered by academia of thinking more outside the box, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Precision Machine/Medical Device Design course is drawing on grad students and seniors to generate innovative ideas in the field. "We can innovate no-holds-barred and, because we’re not so much a part of [the medical device industry], we can find things through asking the deeper questions," said Nevan Hanumara, a postdoctoral associate who helps run the course.
