Netflix serves up 1 billion videos a month without a data center

Netflix completely relies on Amazon Web Services to provide more than 1 billion videos a month to its customers, Netflix's Adrian Cockcroft said at an industry conference. The company, which is the biggest cloud application globally, employs hundreds of Tomcat JavaServer and NGINX Web servers to provide its front-end services, Steven Vaughan-Nichols writes.
