Samsung begins research for era of thought-controlled devices

Researchers at Samsung's Emerging Technology Lab are working with neuroscientists in an attempt to create a truly hands-free tablet PC that users can navigate using nothing more than brainpower. Early-stage research uses EEG readings and electromyography drawn from a sensor-studded cap to interpret brain waves. "It is nearly impossible to accurately predict what the future might bring, but given the broad support for initiatives such as the U.S. BRAIN initiative, improvements in man-machine interfaces seem inevitable," said Insoo Kim, a Samsung researcher.
