Scrapping 401(k) tax breaks could fix the retirement-savings crisis

Repealing retirement-plan tax breaks isn't as terrible an idea as it sounds, writes Chris Farrell. Using automatic enrollment to encourage saving for retirement would be far more effective, Farrell writes, adding that eliminating the tax breaks would boost the federal budget by approximately $100 billion a year.
