Senate bill would create electronic drug monitoring system

Four U.S. senators have drafted a bill that would develop a nationwide electronic and interoperable system for monitoring drugs from their sources to pharmacies. The bill would also mandate that different entities in the supply chain, such as manufacturers, repackagers and dispensers, prepare and pass along transaction data whenever a change in the ownership of a certain drug happens.
