VA plans to process 250,000 claims in 6 months

The Department of Veterans Affairs will expedite its claims process in an effort to decrease the backlog of disability claims, VA Undersecretary for Benefits Allison Hickey said Friday. The oldest claims will take top priority alongside new claims from Medal of Honor recipients, former prisoners of war and terminally ill vets. Several members of Congress expressed skepticism about the program but praised it for attempting to tackle the backlog of more than 570,000 pending claims.
