Venture capital investment slides 12%

The amount invested by U.S. venture capital firms declined 12% in the first quarter compared with Q4, to $5.9 billion, according to the National Venture Capital Association and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Investment in software companies increased from $551 million in Q4 to $565 million in Q1.
