NHL playoffs are an audience power play for NBC Sports Network

NBC Sports Network increased its viewership for the first nine days of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs by 26% to 676,000 viewers. Wednesday's game pitting the Philadelphia Flyers against the Pittsburgh Penguins attracted an audience of 1.03 million. For the first eight days of the playoffs, more than 21 million people tuned in to watch on NBC Sports Network, CNBC and NBC, compared with 14.1 million for the same period in 2011.
