Can cafeteria palm scanners improve flow of lunch lines?

A California district is testing the use of palm scanners in cafeteria lines to determine whether the technology can help get students through the line more quickly and improve access to meals. The technology, however, has drawn criticism from some concerned about the information being gathered about students and from some school officials who say technical difficulties have led to delays.
