CMS extends data sharing for emergency location of at-risk people

CMS is extending the use of individual health information stored in eight databases, including the National Claims History database and several ones dealing with Medicare recipients, to identify at-risk people during emergency situations. The expanded data-sharing initiative aims to easily reach and offer assistance in times of disaster to medically vulnerable people, such as those who rely on electricity to undergo dialysis or receive oxygen.
