Cordray contends data collection is necessary for regulations

Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray said his agency's data collection does not violate individual privacy rights and isn't different from what other private companies already do. Testifying before the Senate banking committee, Cordray said the data is necessary to improve the agency's rule-writing work.
