Hotels talk to guests to avoid negative renovation reviews

In an effort to keep prospective guests in the loop about its renovations, The New York Palace is blogging about it. The hotel said it decided to start the blog to boost communication after TripAdvisor reviews indicated that guests hadn't been told about construction. Other hotels don't stay open during renovations as a way to avoid disappointing guests; the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Fla., is closing for the summer to complete its upgrades.
