House subcommittee may advance bill to recognize reservist retirees as veterans

A panel of the House Veterans' Affairs Committee is scheduled to vote Thursday on a bill that would allow reservists and guardsmen to be officially recognized on ceremonial occasions such as Memorial Day. The measure wouldn't extend any extra pay or benefits to reservists who never mobilized for active duty. The bill has been passed out of committee three times.
