Ill. district's elective to focus on math placement test

An Illinois district will offer a math course to help students prepare for a placement test used to determine entrance to some community colleges and trade schools. The first semester of the class will focus on test preparation and calculating math problems without the use of calculators, which the entrance exam prohibits, and the second semester will cover a range of college-level math concepts.
