Judge finds FDA in violation of food safety law with FSMA delay

U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton ruled that the FDA is in violation of food safety rules by delaying the Food Safety Modernization Act, which was created to stop the outbreak of food-borne diseases. The FDA "admittedly failed to comply with the mandatory rule-making schedule," Hamilton said. "Endless delay does not serve any purpose of the FMSA," she added.
