Minn. lawmakers consider renewable-energy goal for 2030

A bill in the Minnesota legislature would require the state's utilities to get 40% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The existing renewable portfolio standard calls for 25% renewable power by 2025 for most utilities and 30% by 2020 for Xcel Energy. "We think it's time to nudge the standard forward," said J. Drake Hamilton, science policy director for Fresh Energy.
