New KALQ touch-screen keyboard is touted as faster than QWERTY

The venerable QWERTY keyboard should give way on tablets to a new alignment known as KALQ, according to researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Informatics who say their split keyboard formation could speed typing by up to 34% if users are properly trained in how to waggle their thumbs. The dual 4x4 keyboard grids will be released as a free Android application next month.
