Obama budget proposal includes more funding for IHS

President Barack Obama's 2014 budget proposal includes a $124 million increase for the Indian Health Service over fiscal year 2012, which is a 3% increase over the 2013 White House budget. The increased funding would help pay for staff and operations at new facilities, as well as help the IHS purchase health care from private entities for services it can't cover. The budget includes almost $6 million for health programs managed by tribes.
