Propane industry sees better heating season

Propane marketers are optimistic that this year's heating season in the final tally will generate more income than last year because of more seasonable weather. "I'd have to give it pretty high marks for normal temperatures, stable prices and no supply disruptions. That's a pretty good recipe -- the rest is up to us," said Norm Guerette, general manager of Maine-based propane marketer Dead River. While some propane companies are adopting a wait-and-see approach for the rest of the year, others are optimistic about moving more gallons as home construction picks up and vehicle fleet managers show interest in propane autogas.
