Sprint Nextel on Monday took a firm stand behind its CDMA-based 2G network for machine-to-machine communications by expanding its partnership with Swiss vendor U-blox in a deal that the carrier says signifies its long-term commitment to 2G M2M through 2020. Sprint said GSM-based 2G networks are being repurposed to support 3G and 4G networks.
