Technology helps investigators track fake 9-1-1 calls

Investigators have the technology to track the identity of people who use services like Spoofcard to engage in swatting, or sending fake 9-1-1 calls to elicit an emergency response, Steve Anderson writes in a TMCnet column. He says even swatters using voice over Internet Protocol services or telecommunication devices for the deaf leave an electronic trail that investigators can follow back to the call source.
