U.S. companies are keeping their corporate cash in U.S. banks, even the smaller institutions, despite the expiration of unlimited government insurance on noninterest-bearing bank deposits at the end of 2012. Companies appear to be confident that U.S. banks will not fail. Another factor is that there are few other investments options offering better returns.
