Israel, Syria may be near Golan Heights deal

Israeli and Syrian officials on Wednesday hinted at a possible deal to settle their long-running dispute over control of the Golan Heights, with Syrian officials saying Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert had sent a message to Syrian leadership indicating Israel would be willing to withdraw from all of the area in exchange for peace. Israeli authorities did not deny the claim.
