AAFP joins other coalition members in seeking end to OTC provision

The AAFP joined other Health Choices Coalition members in sending a letter to the House Ways and Means Committee that calls for repealing a provision in the health reform law that require patients to have a prescription from their physician to use tax-preferred health accounts to pay for over-the-counter medications. The coalition, which sent a similar letter last year, says there is no medical justification for the rule, which has had unintended consequences for physicians and patients.
